Do you like Between the Buried and Me? Their early work was a little too ‘metalcore’ for my taste, but when Alaska came out in ‘05, I think they really came into their own - both technically and progressively. The whole album has a tight, grandiose sound, and a new sheen of intricacy that really gives the album a big boost. They’ve been compared to King Crimson, but I think they have a far more defined, tighter sense of sound. In ‘07, BTBAM released this, Colors, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is ‘White Walls’, a song so heavy most people can’t handle the breakdown. But they should, because it’s not just about the heaviness of the breakdown, and the fantastic solo, it’s also a social commentary about what we will be remembered for! Hey Paul!

This needs to be shared again.

But The Great Misdirect and Swim to the Moon are so good too. Even more intricate and more progressive/theatrical and the lyrics are just as profound in that album too.
